Sweet Sleeves #2: Neil Sedaka, “Bad Blood” (1975)

I’m overdue in commemorating the passing of the great Neil Sedaka, but better late than never.

Neil Sedaka, Bad Blood (1975)

Here’s the German edition of his hit 1975 single, “Bad Blood.” At first glance it seems rather unremarkable. Certainly the head shot is nothing to write home about.

But I am fascinated with the typeface choice someone at Polydor made. Neil’s name is shown in what looks like some sort of faux-futuristic, avant garde looking choice. But then the song titles just scream “’70s representation of computers and robotics.” Such an odd blend, yet I can’t look away.
